About the PositionInland Rail’s commercial team has a new opportunity for an experienced Commercial Manager to join its close-knit team. The primary purpose of the role is to manage the rail corridor, material supply and signalling packages for the Inland Rail Program, ensuring the implementation of the commercial framework, procedures and monitoring performance against key performance indicators. The Commercial Manager will be responsible for a portfolio of a value of AU$ 1.5billion. Managing a team of up to 6 subordinates, the Commercial Manager will be expected to lead, inspire and motivate the commercial team, provide direction and manage performance Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager the accountabilities are and are not limited to: Provide effective commercial oversight and appraisal of project progress, including key issues, variations, claims, disputes, trends, risks and their allocation, opportunities and other material commercial issues or matters; Ensure the achievement of commercial contract management outcomes and commercial elements of contracts and contractor relationships are in line with contract objectives, government, ARTC and Inland Rail requirements and objectives; Ensure compliance with a high standard of probity and ethical values within the Commercial function, Project delivery team and with process users and action any instances of non-compliance through to a successful conclusion Promote a safety culture within the team to conform to current Work Health and Safety (WH&S) and relevant Rail Safety legislation About YouThis strategic role will join a highly collaborative commercial team where peers are working together, best practices are shared and strong integration with delivery teams is fostered. You will be able to demonstrate: Tertiary qualifications in a field such as business, commerce, engineering, project management, law or another relevant discipline; A minimum of 15 years proven relevant experience with a minimum of 10 years’ experience working in a commercial capacity on major infrastructure projects. Rail projects is preferred; An excellent understanding of contract law with experience in various procurement strategies and contract types in a large business environment; Demonstrated experience working and managing collaborative (Target Cost/Alliance) contracts is essential; Experience in managing a range of procurement activities effectively across a range of different functional areas; Demonstrate experience in leading, inspiring and motivating a commercial team; and, Clear and concise oral and written communications skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organisation, external party representatives and management.
