The Opportunity

\n

This exciting opportunity has arisen as a result of the ongoing development of the OGC, which has supported both internal promotions and the ability to seek new faces to join our team. We are now seeking a Senior Lawyer with significant post-admission experience to join the Office of the General Counsel (OGC).

\n

The OGC is the University's in-house legal team providing comprehensive legal advice and services to management and staff on University related issues, whilst also coordinating access to external legal services.

\n

In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the General Counsel to support the University in achieving its goals through the provision of timely and authoritative legal advice and services on a wide range of legal matters. This role will advise on major property and construction matters, significant commercial and IT procurement activities and initiatives.

\n

With broad exposure to various stakeholder groups across the University, the successful candidate will likely be working closely with our Buildings and Property Division and advising them on property related matters as well as on a range of general commercial matters. Another key area within this stream involves contracts and procurement matters; the Senior Lawyer will play an integral part in advising stakeholders in relation to IT initiatives across the University.

\n

You will be responsible for producing high-quality legal research, advice and documents appropriate to clients' needs, including reviewing, drafting, negotiating and settling a range of agreements and contracts. You will have frequent contact with key clients of the Office, and will be involved in supporting the University's significant commercial and property initiatives.

\n

Your Experience

\n

To be successful in this role, you will be a qualified legal practitioner with significant post-admission experience in the area of commercial and/or property law. You enjoy working in a complex environment managing a busy portfolio of work and adapting to a diverse range of matters and priorities on a daily basis. You have a proven ability to work autonomously and understand the importance of delivering exceptional customer service to key internal stakeholders and developing respectful and trusting relationships.

\n

If you are highly motivated and would enjoy being part of a supportive team of professional staff, please submit a confidential application.

\n

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

\n

At Monash University, we are committed to being a Child Safe organisation. These positions at the University will require the incumbents to hold a valid Working with Children Check.

\n

The successful applicants will need to possess a current valid Police Check.

\n

Your application must address the selection criteria. Please refer to \"How to apply for Monash Jobs\".
