Registered Nurse – Perioperative / Theatre

The Peri-operative Services team at Western Health are seeking applications from skilled and knowledgeable in the areas of Scrub/Scout and/or Anaesthetics/PACU. The Western Health Perioperative Services team take pride in delivering exceptional care to patients in the Western region of Melbourne within a variety of settings.

Footscray Hospital
The Footscray Perioperative team is seeking an experienced and passionate Scrub/Scout and/or Anaesthetic/PACU registered nurse to join the Perioperative Team on a Permanent Full Time. The Division of Peri Operative and Critical Care Services is responsible for the provision of both elective and emergency surgical procedures with an emphasis on increasing the number of patients admitted on the day of surgery and as day cases.  The Operating Suite / Day Procedure Unit manage patient’s admissions pre and post procedural/operative care; theatre or day procedure intervention and post procedural/operative care.   Footscray Hospital has 6 operating theatres and supports a wide variety of surgeries including; Orthopaedics, ENT, Plastics, Thoracic, Neurosurgery, Endoscopy, Maxillofacial, Vascular, Urology and General Surgery.

Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s
The Perioperative team at Joan Kirner is seeking experienced and passionate Scrub/Scout and or Anaesthetic/Pacu Registered Nurses to join the team on a Permanent Full Time / Part Time basis.  The Operating Suite comprises four operating rooms and one procedure room. We provide care for elective and emergency patients and accommodate a range of day and multi day procedures. The specialities for adult and paediatric patients includes obstetrics and gynaecology services for women; and plastic, orthopaedic, ENT and general surgery procedures for children.  The complex also comprises a Day of Surgery Admissions (DOSA) centre that provides care for surgical patients during the admission and recovery phase of their surgical journey.

To be successful for either role you will have:

  • Must possess recent experience in Operating Suite and Scrub / Scout or Anaesthetic / PACU Experience
  • Experience in Ophthalmology, ENT, Plastics, Vascular and General Surgery is highly desired
  • Successful completion of Postgraduate qualification in Cardiac or Critical Care Nursing or working towards completion of postgraduate qualification is highly desired
  • Must be available on a 7 days rotating roster

The role of the registered nurse, will see you working within a multidisciplinary specialist clinic that incorporates the following activities: unsupervised clinical practice, coordination of care, counselling, health promotion and teaching, patient advocacy, collaborative patient and unit management, research, supervision and mentorship/preceptorship, interaction/liaison with multidisciplinary team, accurate and timely documentation. 

To be successful for this role you will meet the following:

  • Minimum 2 years full-time or equivalent experience as a Paediatric Registered Nurse
  • Possess excellent clinical skills
  • Effective organisational skills, with respect to time management and delegation
  • Well-developed written and verbal skills

An exciting opportunity to join the Dialysis Unit at Sunshine or Sunbury Campus. The Registered Nurse - Grade 2 is offered on a Permanent Full Time or Permanent Part Time.

We are seeking a highly passionate and experienced dialysis Registered Nurse for this rewarding yet dynamic opportunity in our established and comprehensive dialysis service located at the Sunbury campus.

Sunbury Dialysis Unit:
The Sunbury Day Medical Unit is a 12 chair haemodialysis and infusion service that are utilised over 2 shifts from 0700hrs-20.30hrs.   Currently the unit has 9 dedicated dialysis chairs utilised morning and afternoon shifts. Allocation of 3 day medical chairs, 1 day per week dedicated to patients requiring infusions or transfusions.

As a dialysis registered nurse you will work closely with the ANUM to provide safe environment for staff and patients and a positive work culture and be a part of departmental quality improvements for the service.  The team prides itself on working collaboratively with nursing, medical, allied health and community organisations to provide excellent care for our patients and their relatives.

To be successful this role you will have:

 Essential:          

  • Knowledge and Experience within  a dialysis unit
  • Effective organisational skills with respect to time management and delegation
  • Demonstrated ability to practice collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team
  • A commitment to high quality, safe and person centred patient care

Desirable:

  • 5 years’ experience
  • Recent post-grad certification in renal nursing would be looked on favourably
  • Experience in an acute dialysis setting would be preferred but not essential

The Dialysis Unit at Williamstown are seeking a highly motivated and experienced registered nurse for this rewarding, yet dynamic nursing opportunity in the newly established and comprehensive Williamstown dialysis service. This Registered Nurse position is a Temporary Part Time, (32 hours per fortnight). The position requires you to have a minimum of 1 year haemodialysis experience and you will work within the chronic unit and also rotating through the acute dialysis services based at Footscray.

Williamstown dialysis unit is a satellite dialysis unit attached to Williamstown hospital under western health, where we cater the needs for chronic dialysis patients. Footscray Hospital dialysis caters to the needs of acute dialysis patients who are predominantly inpatients and require complex care needs. This position requires staff to work in both campuses.

  • Flexibility with the availability with working between the Williamstown and Footscray units.
  • A commitment to high quality, safe and person centred patient care
  • Possess excellent clinical skills
  • Recent Post Grad Certification – Desirable
