Play a major role in the protection of Western Australia’s agricultural industries and natural resources.

Develop and leverage strong working relationships across the public and private sectors to strengthen Western Australia’s biosecurity.

What will your typical day look like?

As a Senior Biosecurity Compliance Officer , a typical day will include the effective and efficient delivery of compliance activities, investigations, education and community awareness programs relating to biosecurity. You will also assist and mentor teams to ensure they comply with operational policies, procedures, and protocols.

As a Supervising Biosecurity Compliance Officer , you will manage and lead the effective delivery of biosecurity investigations and compliance activities. You will also lead the proactive development of operational policies, procedures and protocols to drive compliance.

Senior Biosecurity Compliance Officer – Level 4

Work related requirement 1 – Role Specific: Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, compliance governance framework and/or law enforcement activities and operational procedures.

Work related requirement 5 - Think strategically: Proven ability to interpret and apply legislation and the ability to research issues and make appropriate recommendations.

Supervising Biosecurity Compliance Officer - Level 5

Work related requirement 1 – Role Specific: Substantial knowledge and experience in establishing, implementing, and managing compliance programs and/or law enforcement activities preferably within a biosecurity environment.

Work related requirement 2 – Role Specific: Well-developed knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, compliance governance framework, and operational procedures.

Work related requirement 5 - Think strategically: Demonstrated ability to conduct complex investigations, including prioritising, interpreting, and applying legislation, policy, procedures, and guidelines.

To be eligible for a permanent appointment to the Western Australian public sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency status in Australia. To be eligible for a fixed term or a casual appointment you must have documentary evidence of your entitlement to live and work in Australia for the period as part of your application.

Special Requirements for this position:

Certificate qualification in compliance and investigation and/or possession of relevant experience.

Current Manual ‘C’ or Automatic 'C-A' Class Driver’s License accepted in Western Australia.

Travel within the regional and metropolitan area will be essential and occasional travel to other districts may be required. 

Ability and willingness to safely handle livestock and animals or be trrained to do so upon commencement. 

This pool will be valid for a period of twelve (12) months following finalisation of the process and may be used to fill permanent and fixed term, full time and part time opportunities that may arise in this period. Please note, being appointed to the pool does not guarantee you placement to a position.
