Trainee Driller/Offsider


About the Role:

Multiple vacancies currently exist for experienced Drilling Offsiders with the passion to become Drillers. The right candidate will hold a current HR license, and is fit, healthy with manual work experience. This role will assist the Driller with all aspects of the day to day running of drilling operations and provide the offsider with the opportunity and process to actually become a fully qualified driller, not just dangle a carrot. Our client will support Offsiders to gain required drilling tickets and experience so that your career progression clear and you are provided the upskilling, support and job security we all deserve.

The successful applicant must be enthusiastic, hard-working, and be able to work in a team environment in remote locations for up to 2  weeks at a time. This role is very physically active and requires a physically fit person. The successful candidate will also be very safety conscious and take pride in their presentation and the presentation of our equipment and worksites. This role is locally based at Wattleup (not FIFO) for the first 3 months. The right person may get the opportunity to go to site (FIFO) before the 3 months, if they can start well and pick things up quickly. The client will offer a balance of local work and FIFO (with away work usually consisting of 2 weeks on, 1 week off roster).

  • Our clients main focus is to provide all clients with superior drilling and sampling services, backed up by experienced, well-trained licensed Drillers and state-of-the-art equipment.
  • Geotechnical drilling and sampling
  • Environmental sampling & Field testing,
  • Monitoring Bores, Water Bores, Stock Bores, Irrigation Bores, Production Bores & Dewatering Bores
  • Environmental Drilling
  • Over Water Drilling (Marine channels, Marine harbours, River, Creek, Dam, Jetty)
  • All terrain drilling and small footprint drilling services.

In this role you will:
  • Assist the Driller with all aspects of the daily drilling operations.
  • Help perform daily maintenance.
  • Clean and maintain equipment to ensure proper functioning including daily pre-start checks.
  • Assist with maintaining records for all compliance.
  • Ability to perform all tasks as directed by the driller or senior offsider.
  • Assist with fabricating or repairs in the workshop.

What you’ll need:
  • Ability to use initiative and have good communication skills
  • Unrestricted HR or HC WA truck licence
  • First aid certificate an advantage
  • Ability to work flexible hours and away from home
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening test
  • Provide a current Police clearance cert
  • Pass a medical
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt quickly to challenging situations
  • Maintain a safe work environment adhering to OH&S standards.
